Practical Action - for D&T teaching
Formerly known as Intermediate Technology Development Group (ITDG)
Offers resources support projects in a range of curriculum areas, including humanities,
science, citizenship and PSHE. However, most of the work is targeted at design
and technology teaching, focusing on issues such as:
- technologies from different cultures
- the local and global impact of design and technology decisions
- the role of appropriate technology in sustainable development
Rights Respecting Schools - UNICEF
This new nationwide award scheme promotes the United Nations Convention on the
Rights of the Child as the basis for enhancing teaching, learning, ethos, attitudes
and behaviour.
Royal Geographical Society
New learning resources for Primary and Secondary Schools exploring the geography
and history of East Africa are now available as well as lots of other ideas for
a global dimension in geography.
Save the Children
Eye to Eye with child labour seeks to bring to life issues around children and
work, through stimulating teaching resources based around the photos and stories

is the only Development Education Centre in the North East and is based in Middlesbrough
